Even if it's washed with white coloured milk and then dried for many days, the dark coloured charcoal won't become white. Similarly, those who have neither learned the right things nor performed any worthy good deeds in life, won't heed to any kind of learned / valuable advice, even if it's offered to them by making a hole in their ears, i.e. forcibly.

The USA is considered the world's strongest superpower. It's President, Donald Trump, says something controversial pretty much everyday and has become the most notoriously popular clown. No one can control him until now. Even though everyone mocks his meaningless ramblings, since the presidency is so powerful, the world leaders and people remain frightened that he'll eventually do something so stupid that it will result in global destruction. NhAladiyAr verse 258 explains eloquently why such morons cannot be changed.

However many days it's washed with white milk and dried, the dark coloured charcoal won't turn white. People like Trump, who don't have inspiring ideals or elevating thoughts are like that charcoal. He is simply not the right person for such a powerful position. Even though those closer to him, such as Major Kelly, try hard, at times even forcibly (like when he forced the ridiculous Communications Director and dangerous Chief Strategist out) to seed good thoughts or trigger useful ideas, since he has neither learned the right things nor performed righteous deeds in life and continues to surround himself with only a coterie of yes-ministers instead of wiser ones, the speech and actions of those like Trump simply won't change. Because, Change has to happen from within oneself and there is no opportunity for that in this hopeless case. So, the only way out is for the people, who elected him as President, and those in the Government, to realise that they have committed a grave mistake by electing someone utterly unsuitable like him for a higher office they simply don't deserve to occupy (and obviously not qualified for) and either impeach him or force his ouster by legal means. That's when the world can remain in peace.

பல நாள் வெண்மையான பாலினால் கழுவி உலர்த்தி வைத்தாலும், இயற்கையில் கருநிறமுடைய கரிக்கு வெண்மையுடையதாகின்ற தன்மை இருந்ததில்லை. அதுபோல, கல்வியறிவு பெறுதற்கேற்ற அறத்தைச் செய்யாத ஒருவனுக்கு, கோலினால் அவன் காதில் கடாவித் துளை செய்து, அறிவை விளக்கும் பொருள்களைச் சொல்லினும் அவை புகமாட்டா.

உலகின் மிகப்பெரிய வல்லசராகக் கருதப்படும் அமெரிக்காவின் ராஷ்டிரபதியான டொனால்ட் டிரம்ப் தினமும் ஏதாவது சர்ச்சைக்கிடமான கருத்துகளைத் தெரிவித்து, தற்போது உலகின் முதன்மையான நகைச்சுவை நாயகனாகத் திகழ்கிறார். இதுவரை அவரை யாராலும் அடக்க முடியவில்லை. அவரது அர்த்தமற்ற பேச்சை  நையாண்டி செய்தலும், அவரது பதவிக்கும் மிகப்பெரிய சக்தி இருப்பதால், உலக அழிவு ஏற்படும் வகையில் ஏதேனும் அறிவற்ற செயலைப் புரிந்துவிடுவாரோ என்று உலகத் தலைவர்களும், மக்களும் எப்போதும் அச்சத்தோடு வாழவேண்டிய நிலை ஏற்பட்டுள்ளது. இவரைப் போன்ற மூடர்களை என் மாற்ற முடியாது என்பதை, நாலடியார் பாடல் 258 தெளிவாக விளக்குகின்றது.

எத்தனை நாட்கள் நிலக்கரியைப் பாலால் கழுவி உலர்த்தினாலும், அதன் கருமை போய் அது வெண்மையாக வாய்ப்பில்லை. உள்ளத்தில் தூய்மையான நல்ல எண்ணங்களோ, உயர்ந்த சிந்தனைகளோ இல்லாத  டிரம்ப் போன்றவர்கள் அக்கரியை ஒத்தவர்கள். மேஜர் கெல்லி போன்ற அவரது அருகாமையிலிருப்பவர்கள், கடுமையான முறைகளைப் பயன்படுத்தியேனும், நல்ல எண்ணங்களை விதைக்கவோ, சிறந்த சிந்தனையைத் தூண்டவோ முயன்றாலும், இயல்பாக உயர்கல்வி கற்காத, நற்செயல்கள் புரிந்து பழக்கமில்லாத, நல்ல எண்ணங்களுடையவரோடு சேராமல், எப்போதும் தன்னைப் புகழும் ஆமாம் சாமிகளுடனே இருந்து பழகிவிட்ட டிரம்ப் போன்றோருடைய பேச்சு மற்றும் செயல்கள்,  என்னதான் முயன்றாலும் இனி மாற வாய்ப்பில்லை. ஏனெனில், மாற்றம் என்பது எப்போதும் ஒருவரது உள்ளிருந்து ஏற்படவேண்டும். ஆகையால், தவறான ஒருவரை இத்தகைய உயர்ந்த பதவிக்குத் தேர்ந்தெடுத்த தங்களது தவறை உணர்ந்து, மக்களும், அரசாங்கமும் சேர்ந்து அவரைப் பதவிநீக்கம் செய்வது ஒன்றே, உலகம் அமைதியாக வாழ வழிவகுக்கும்.

Even if one isn't very wealthy, just like the time when one had enough wealth, if one is joyful (or at least pleased) at seeing needy people and offer whatever little help one can, such benevolence will get them a Tatkal ticket for entry into heaven, i.e. heaven's doors will remain open for them.

Our wealth may not grow all the time. Even those who have earned a lot of wealth through dubious means, may be forced to lose most of it through an executive action like Demonetization. Those who've worked hard and earned wealth legally and invested it in the stock market, may still lose it, if and when the markets go through a bearish phase. Those who've invested in real estate like house or land may lose it due to natural calamities like flood, earthquake or drought. Buildings constructed violating construction norms, flouting procedures, may just be charred in a fire. Long story short, earned / accumulated wealth is impermanent.

But those who need either financial assistance or other forms of help will always be there. When they come to us seeking help, even if our present situation isn't as great as it used to be, we should offer some help, as much as we can. Those who are kind enough to give to others who are in need like that, without citing their current status as an excuse, a seat in heaven will be allotted on priority like Tatkal reservation, i.e, the doors of heaven will remain open specially for them.

தன்னிடம் மிகுந்த அளவில் செல்வம் இல்லாவிட்டாலும், போதுமான அளவு செல்வம் இருந்த காலத்தைப் போல, உதவி வேண்டி வருபவர்களின் வருகையால் மகிழ்ந்து, சிறிய அளவிலாவது பிறருக்குக் கொடுத்துதவும் நற்பண்பை உடைய மனிதர்களுக்கு, ஸ்வர்க உலகத்தின் கதவுகள் ஒருபோதும் மூடப்படாது.

ஆனால், பொருளுதவியோ அல்லது வேறு ஏதோ ஒரு வகையான உதவியோ தேவைப்படுபவர்கள் எங்கும், எப்போதும் உள்ளனர். அவர்கள் நம்மிடம் வந்து உதவி கேட்கும்பொழுது, நமது தற்போதய நிலை முன்புபோலச் சிறப்பாக இல்லாவிட்டாலும், நம்மால் இயன்ற அளவு, ஏதாவது உதவியை நாம் செய்யவேண்டும். அவ்வாறு, தனது நிலையாக காரணம் கூறாது, சிறிய அளவிலாவது, தன்னலமற்றுப் பிறருக்கு உதவி புரிபவர்களுக்கு, ஸ்வர்கம் / சொர்க்கம் எனப்படும் மரணத்திற்குப் பிந்தைய மேலுலகில், தத்கால் முறையில் இடம் அளிக்கப்படும். அதாவது, சொர்கத்தின் கதவுகள் அவர்களுக்குத் தனிப்பட்ட முறையில் திறந்து விடப்படும்.

By knowing how to properly inhale, contain and release (exhale) breath and by practising it diligently, one’s lifetime can be extended.

When we hear that one’s lifetime or how long one lives is predetermined, it is neither blind belief nor ignorance. The number of breaths for each and every piece of creation has been determined equally, without any bias or inequality, by the creator. The length of one’s lifetime - including humans - depends on how a particular creature breathes.

Dogs live for about 12-14 years. Humans, who adore and keep dogs as pets (or pelt them with stones) can live for over a hundred years (the typical human lifespan at present is only about 60-70 years). It’s scientifically proven that certain types of tortoises (there’s one in Galapagos islands) live for hundreds of years. Few ocean based species and trees live for thousands of years. The difference between all these species is not in their appearance, food or habitation. But how they breathe - rapidly (dogs), fast - always in a hurry (humans), deliberately (tortoise) or in a very limited quantity (ocean creatures & trees) - determines the difference in their lifespan.

In the ancient culture of BhArat, the science of living had been researched in depth; methods to extend one's lifespan have been invented and formal techniques were devised (and offered to all by AchAryAs or expert teachers who themselves have practised these techniques for years). GnAnis (enlightened beings) have realised breath as PrANavAyu (life giving air / wind) and termed the technique to inhale (pUrakam), contain / hold (kumbhakam) and exhale (rEychakam) breath as PrANAyAmA (the scientific method of breathing). Those who practice PrANAyAmA techniques diligently (and follow healthy habits - of body & mind) can actually extend their life span.

It’s a fact that accomplished yOgis like Agasthya Muni and Pathanjali Maharishi, who knew the nuances of the PrANAyAmA science and its life connect, have actually lived for several hundreds of years. The difference between meditators who live a longer, healthier life by talking less and spending more time in silence, following their spiritual practices diligently and the emotionally charged ones who expend their energy by yakking all the time, and live suffering from high blood pressure and heart ailments, is how they handle the life force of prANA. In fact, without knowing anything about the refined techniques like PrANAyAmA that are inward focused to extend one’s life span, the various attempts like nips and tucks using plastic surgery and drugs that the celebrities rely on to keep the external physical form young is nothing short of hilarious.

ஒளவைக் குறள் 49 ~ வாழ்வளி வளிவழி

வாயு வழக்கம் அறிந்து செறிந்தடங்கில்

ஆயுட் பெருக்கம் உண்டாம்.

சுவாசக் காற்றை எவ்வாறு உள்வாங்கி, அடக்கி, வெளிவிடுவது என்பதை முறையாக அறிந்து பயிற்சி செய்துவந்தால், ஆயுட்காலம் அதிகமாகும்.

ஒருவருடைய ஆயுட்காலம் ஏற்கனவே தீர்மானிக்கப்பட்டது என்று கூறப்படுவது மூடநம்பிக்கையோ, அறியாமையோ அல்ல. படைத்தவன் எல்லா உயிர்களுக்கும், எந்த விதமான பாகுபாடுமின்றி, ஒரே அளவு சுவாசத்தை நிர்ணயித்துள்ளான். படைக்கப்பட்ட உயிர்கள் அனைத்தும் - மனிதர்கள் உட்பட - எவ்வளவு காலம் இயல்பாக வாழமுடியும் என்பது, அந்தத் தனிப்பட்ட உயிரானது சுவாசிக்கும் முறையைச் சார்ந்தது.

நாயானது, ஏறத்தாழ 12 முதல் 14 ஆண்டுகளே வாழும். அதைச் செல்லப்பிராணியாக வளர்க்கும் (அல்லது கல்லால் அடிக்கும்) மனிதன் 100 ஆண்டுகளுக்கு மேலும் வாழமுடியும் (தற்போது 60 முதல் 70 வரையே பெரும்பாலான மனிதர்கள் வாழ்கின்றனர்). சில வகையான ஆமைகள் பல நூற்றாண்டுகளாக வாழ்வது விஞ்ஞான முறைப்படி உறுதிப்படுத்தப்பட்டுள்ளது. சில கடல்வாழ் உயிரினங்கள் மற்றும் மரங்கள் ஆயிரக்கணக்கான ஆண்டுகள் வாழ்கின்றனர். இவை அனைத்திற்கும் உள்ள வேறுபாடு உருவிலோ, உணவிலோ, தங்குமிடத்திலோ இல்லை. அவை எவ்வாறு சுவாசிக்கின்றன - அதிவிரைவாக, அவசரமாக, நிதானமாக, மிகக்குறைந்த அளவில் - என்பதே அவற்றின் ஆயுட்காலத்தை நிர்ணயிக்கின்றது.

தொன்மையான பாரத கலாசாரத்தில், உயிர் விஞ்ஞானம் மிக ஆழமாக ஆராயப்பட்டு, ஒருவரது ஆயுட்காலத்தை நீட்டிப்பதற்கான வழிகள் கண்டுபிடிக்கப்பட்டு, முறையான பயிற்சிகள் உருவாக்கப்பட்டன. சுவாசத்தைப் பிராணவாயு என்று அறிந்துணர்ந்த ஞானிகள், அதனை முறையாக உள்வாங்கி (பூரகம்), தேக்கி (கும்பகம்), வெளிவிடுவதற்கான (ரேசகம்) வழிமுறையைப் பிராணாயாமம் என்று அழைத்தனர். தொடர்ந்து முறையாகச் செய்யும் பிராணாயாமப் பயிற்சிகள் மூலம், நல்லொழுக்கத்துடன் வாழும் யார் வேண்டுமானாலும் தனது ஆயுட்காலத்தை நீட்டிக்கமுடியும்.

பிராணாயாம விஞ்ஞானத்தின் ஆழ்ந்த உயிர்சார்ந்த உண்மையை அறிந்த அகஸ்தியர், பதஞ்சலி போன்றோர் பல நூற்றாண்டுகளாக வாழ்ந்ததாகக் கூறப்படுவது மிகையற்ற உண்மை என்பதை நாம் அறியமுடிகின்றது. அளவாகப்பேசி, அமைதியாக தியானத்தில் ஈடுபடுவோர் ஆரோக்கியமாய் நீண்டகாலம் வாழ்வதற்கும், அதிகமாய்ப் பேசி உணர்ச்சிவசப்படுவோர், உயர் ரத்த அழுத்தம் மற்றும் இருதயக் கோளாறுகளால் அவதிப்படுவதற்கும், பிராணவாயு எனப்படும் மூச்சுக்காற்றைக் கையாளும் விதமே காரணம். பிராணாயாமம் போன்ற நுணுக்கமான உள்நோக்கிய வாழ்நாள் நீட்டிக்கும் வழிமுறைகளை அறியாமல், வெளி உருவத்தை அறுவைசிகிச்சை மற்றும் மருந்துகள் மூலம் செப்பனிட்டு இளமையாக நீண்டகாலம் இருக்கக் கடுமையாக முயலும் தற்காலப் பிரபலங்களின் முயற்சிகளே நகைப்பிற்குரியவை.

When the preferred type of meat (animal) isn’t available, a hungry tiger, though mighty, will catch and eat a frog. Similarly, when someone gets an opportunity, instead of disrespecting it as if it’s something one can do with the foot, if one sincerely puts effort into the available opportunity, utilising the knowledge gained before, and performs well, some other opportunity, which one may consider as worthy of doing with hands, may happen soon.

Many in the IT services industry - especially those with long term work experience - are suddenly finding themselves being fired or eased out of their position, and are struggling to figure out what to do next. Due to the prevailing political and economical climate, all over the world, getting another similar opportunity immediately will remain a pipe dream for most of them.

So, not unlike the hungry tiger, they should grab any opportunity that comes their way, where they can apply their vast - & hopefully wise - experience, without looking down upon it. If they focus wholeheartedly in doing their best in any available opportunity, they may get a better opportunity soon, through the current opportunity itself.

Instead, if they remain immersed in the past glory of their now non-existent position and keep waiting for something similar, brushing aside other available opportunities as unworthy, then they will become the new examples for the proverb, “A bird in hand is worth two in the bush!”

தனக்குப் பிடித்த இறைச்சி உணவு கிடைக்காத பொழுது, வலிமைமிகுந்த புலியானது சிறிய தவளையைப் பிடித்து உண்ணும். அதுபோல, கிடைக்கக்கூடிய வாய்ப்பை, காலால் செய்யக்கூடிய இழிவான தொழில் என்று கருதாமல், ஒருவன் தனது அறிவுத்திறனைக் கொண்டு சிறப்பாகச் செய்தால், அச்சிறு தொழிலைச் செய்துவரும் காலத்திலேயே, கையால் செய்யும் தகுதியுடையதாகக் கருதப்படும் மேலான தொழில் தானாகவே வாய்க்கும்.

கணிணி மென்பொருள் சேவை நிறுவனங்களில் பணிபுரியும் பலர் - குறிப்பாக நீண்டகால அனுபவம் உள்ளோர் - தற்போது தங்களது பதவியை இழந்து, இனி என்ன செய்வது என்று யோசிக்கும் நிலை இன்றுள்ளது. தற்போது அரசியல் மற்றும் பொருளாதார நிலையால், அவர்கள் உடனடியாக வேறொரு நிறுவனத்தில் உயர்பதவி பெறுவதற்கான வாய்ப்பில்லை.

ஆகையால், பசித்த புலி போன்ற நிலையிலுள்ள அவர்கள், தங்களது அறிவு மற்றும் அனுபவத்தைப் பயன்படுத்தக்கூடிய எந்த வாய்ப்புக் கிடைத்தாலும், அதை இழிவாகக் கருதாமல் பயன்படுத்திக்கொள்ள வேண்டும். அப்படி அவர்கள் கிடைத்த வாய்ப்பில் முழுமையான ஈடுபாட்டுடன் சிறப்பாகச் செயல்பட்டால், அதன்மூலமாகவே வேறொரு சிறப்பான வாய்ப்பு அவர்களுக்கு விரைவிலேயே கிடைக்கலாம்.

தான் இழந்த பதவியின் பழைய நினைவிலே ஊறிக்கிடந்து, அதுபோன்ற மற்றொரு வாய்ப்புக்காகக் காத்திருந்து, கிடைக்கும் வாய்ப்புகளை எல்லாம் துச்சமாக எண்ணி ஒதுக்கினால், “மரத்திலிருக்கும் பலாக்காயைவிடக் கையிலிருக்கும் களாக்காய் மேல்!” என்ற பழமொழிக்கு அவர்களே புதிய உதாரணமாகிவிடுவர்.

தெள்ளியர் அர்ச்சிக்கும் ஆறு.

Those who prepare their heart (not the one that pumps blood to keep the physical body alive, but the spiritual heart aka Hridhayam) as the pedestal (AvudayAr) on which the intense feeling / emotion expressed towards the divine (devotion / bakthi) is worshipped as ShivA (the omnipresent divine or Parabrahmam) in the LingA form (formless form, representing the origin of creation), are the ones with clarity of mind (thoughtless mind, which is accessible only by the realised beings).

Devotees go to temples (consecrated spaces with divine forms in the GarbhagrihA or sanctum sanctorum), offer flowers and other sacred items suitable for pUjA to the archchakar (priest) and fervently worship the divine form (God / Goddess) as the ritualistic offerings are performed (abhishEkham, alankAram, ashtOthram, aarti or Deepa ArAdhaNai). While there is nothing wrong in this form of worship, attaining realisation through such external methods is very rare.

Those with clarity of mind, i.e. the realised beings, don’t search for the divine externally. They prepare their spiritual heart (hridhayam - not the physical one) as the pedestal (AvudayAr) through austerities / spiritual practices that purify the mind and body (in order to be worthy for the divine to reside, within) and crystallise their feeling / emotion towards the divinity within all beings in creation as the ShivA LingA (the primordial formless form of the divine) and surrender to the divinity within oneself, in pure devotion. This is the appropriate way of worshipping ShivA, i.e. that which is not aka Parabrahmam.

PUsalAr nhAyanAr is one of the celebrated 63 Shaivaite (those who consider / worship / surrender to Lord ShivA as the ultimate reality) saints. He has built a whole temple within his heart, stone by stone, over a period of time. On the day he has earmarked for the consecration of his inner temple, KAdavarkOn aka Rajasimha aka Narasimhavarman II, the mighty emperor of KAnchi (Kancheepuram, capital of ThoNdainhAdu) also planned the consecration of his marvelous KailAsanhAthar temple (in KAnchi). Lord ShivA, the ocean of compassion, appeared in the emperor’s dream and gently advised him to change the date of his temple inauguration as he had to be present at PUsalAr’s temple at the same time. Amazed at someone else building a bigger temple than him, the emperor went looking for the saint. When he met him in his humble dwelling and enquired about the whereabouts of his temple, PUsalAr nhAyanAr simply smiled and pointed to his heart. This incidence highlights the magnificent Truth embedded in Avvai KuRaL 73.

உள்ளமே பீடம் உணர்வே சிவலிங்கம்
தெள்ளியர் அர்ச்சிக்கும் ஆறு.

தமது ஹிருதயத்தைப் (உடல் உயிரோட்டத்துடன் இருக்க ரத்த ஓட்டத்தை நிகழ்த்தும் இதயம் அல்ல) பீடமாக்கி, அதில் உள் உணர்வைச் சிவலிங்கமாகப் பூஜித்து வழிபடும் முறையை அறிந்தோர் அறிவுத் (எதையும் பகுத்துப்பார்க்கும் காரண அறிவு அல்ல) தெளிவுடையோர் (ஞானோதயம் அடைந்தோர்).

பக்தர்கள் கோயிலுக்குச் சென்று, மலர்கள் மற்றும் அர்ச்சனைப் பொருட்களை அர்ச்சகரிடம் தந்து, அங்குள்ள இறைவனது உருவத்திற்குப் பூஜை செய்யக் கண்டு, பக்திப் பரவசமடைவது இயல்பு. இறை நம்பிக்கை சார்ந்த இவ்வழிபாட்டு முறையில் தவறேதுமில்லை என்றாலும், இத்தகைய வெளிப்புறச் செயலால் ஒருவர் மெய்ஞானம் அடைவது மிக அரிது.

அறிவுத் தெளிவுடையோர், அதாவது ஞானோதயம் அடைந்தோர், இறைவனை வெளியே தேடுவதில்லை. அவர்கள் தமது உள்ளத்தையே (ஹிருதயம் எனப்படும் உயிரின் இருப்பிடமான ஆன்மீக மையம்) இறைவனது திருவுருவம் அமைந்துள்ள பீடமாக்கி (ஆவுடையார்), தமது உள் உணர்வையே அருவமாகிய இறைவனது திருவுருவான சிவலிங்கமாக (படைப்பின் முதல் வடிவமாகிய அருவுருவம்), படைத்தலில் உள்ள அனைத்து உயிர்களையும் போலத் தம்முள்ளும் உறையும் இறையைப் (சிவமே எங்கும் நிறைந்த பரப்பிரம்மம்) பூஜித்து வழிபடுவர். இதுவே ஈசனை வழிபடுவதற்கான சிறந்த வழியாகும்.

அறுபத்துமூவருள் ஒருவராகிய பூசலார் நாயனார், தனது உள்ளத்தில் ஒரு மாபெரும் திருக்கோயிலையே, ஒவ்வொரு கல்லாக அடுக்கி, அற்புதமான முறையில் உருவாக்கினார். அவர் தனது உள்ளக்கோயிலில் ஈசனை எழுந்தருளச் செய்யக் குறித்த அதே நாளன்று, மாமன்னனாகிய காடவர்கோனும் (ராஜசிம்மன் என்கிற இரண்டாம் நரசிம்மவர்மன்) தான் கட்டிய பிரம்மாண்டமான புதிய கோயிலுக்கு கும்பாபிஷேகம் செய்ய முடிவுசெய்தான். அப்போது கருணைக்கடலாகிய சிவபெருமான் அவனது கனவில் தோன்றி, தான் பூசலாரின் திருக்கோயிலில் எழுந்தருள வேண்டியிருப்பதால், அரசனது கைலாசநாதர் கோயில் குடமுழுக்கு விழாவை வேறொரு நாளைக்கு மாற்றுமாறு அறிவுறுத்தினார். தன்னைவிடப் பெரிய கோயிலைக் கட்டியது யார் என்று வியந்த மன்னன், பூசலாரைக் கண்டு வணங்கி அவரது கோயில் எங்குள்ளது என்று வினவியபோது, அவர் மலர்ந்த முகத்துடன் தனது ஹிருதயத்தைச் சுட்டிக்காட்டினார். இச்சம்பவம் ஔவைக்குறள் 73ல் பொதிந்துள்ள பேருண்மையைத் தெளிவாக்குகின்றது.

Though the flower holds delicious honey and spreads its fragrance all around, a fly will leave it and eagerly go to where the filth is. Similarly, for those with a tainted or corrupt mind, even the choicest counsel, filled with wonderful insights that provide clarity in life, offered by the wise ones or realised Masters, is of no use.

For a fly that’s stuck with filth - in thought and action - the value of a beautiful, fragrant flower with honey is of no interest or use. Even if someone explains in detail about the flower’s value, the fly won’t change its preference (for the filth). But for the bees, which fly around busily, looking for honey, no one needs to explain the value of the flowers.

People who are totally stuck in materialistic survival are like that fly. The spiritual insights and methods for attaining liberation offered by Realised Masters / Gurus won’t change them in any way. Because, in their mind, things like wealth, success, status, fame of the material life are the most valuable.

Seekers who are traversing the spiritual path are like the bees. They are seeking ways and means to realise the Truth, i.e. attain self-realisation or enlightenment, so it’s not necessary to explain to them the value or importance of a Guru.

Note: That's why, even though Mrs Swamy keeps worrying about those who are not even interested in tasting the nectar of spirituality, Swamy never speaks about spirituality to anyone, on his own.

தன்னுள் இனிய சுவையுடைய தேனைக்கொண்டு, நறுமணத்துடன் மலர் இருந்தாலும், ஈயானது அதைவிடுத்து, மலம் போன்ற இழிவான பொருட்களையே விரும்பிச் செல்லும். அதுபோல இழிவான மனமுடையவர்களுக்கு, அறிவில் சிறந்த அல்லது ஞானோதயம் அடைந்த பெரியோர்கள் கூறும் இனிமையான, வாழ்வில் தெளிவை ஏற்படுத்தக்கூடிய, தேர்ந்தெடுக்கப்பட்ட நல்ல கருத்துகளால் எந்தப் பயனும் இல்லை.

எப்போதும் மலத்தையே விரும்பி, அதைத் தேடிச் சென்று உழலும் ஈக்கு, அழகான, நறுமணம் மிக்க, தேனை உடைய மலரின் அருமை தெரியாது. அதன் அருமை பற்றி எவ்வளவுதான் எடுத்துரைத்தாலும் அது தனது இழிவான விருப்பத்தை மாற்றிக் கொள்ளாது. ஆனால், ஆர்வத்துடன் தேனைத் தேடிச் சுறுசுறுப்பாக அலையும் தேனீக்கு மலரின் அருமை பற்றி யாரும் எடுத்துரைக்கத் தேவையில்லை.

பொருள் சார்ந்த வாழ்வின் மீது மிகுந்த பற்றுடன் இருக்கும் மனிதர்கள் அந்த ஈயைப் போன்றவர்களே. ஞானோதயம் அடைந்த குருமார்கள் கூறும் ஆன்மீகக் கருத்துகளோ, மெய்ஞானம் அடைவதற்கான வழிமுறைகளோ அவர்களிடம் எந்த மாற்றத்தையும் ஏற்படுத்தப்போவதில்லை. 

ஆன்மீக வழியில், உண்மையை உணரும் தேடலுடன் செல்லும் சாதகர்களுக்கு, ஒரு குருவின் வழிகாட்டுதலின் அருமை பற்றி யாரும் எடுத்துரைக்கத் தேவையில்லை.

குறிப்பு: இதன்காரணமாகவே, ஆன்மீகம் பற்றிய ஆர்வமே இல்லாதவர்களின் நிலை பற்றித் திருமதி ஸ்வாமி அடிக்கடி வருத்தப்பட்டாலும்கூட, ஸ்வாமி வலியச்சென்று யாரிடமும் ஆன்மீகம் பற்றிப் பேசுவதில்லை.

குருவின் அடிபணிந்து கூடுவது அல்லார்க்கு
அருவமாய் நிற்கும் சிவம்.

Guruvin adipaNindhu kooduvadhu allARkku
AruvamAi nhiRkum Shivam.

Without surrendering to a Guru and remaining connected with him/er in some way, it's not possible to experience the divine.

In the culture of Bharat, i.e. SanAthana DharmA, which emphasises that Mukthi or liberation is the true purpose of life, the Gurus who offer ways and methods to attain liberation have always been given an exalted position in the society. Even in the present era, when people madly chase victory in everything, there is no change in a Guru’s importance.

The reason for that is, Gurus know the ways and means for liberation, through direct experience inward, known as Self-Realisation or Enlightenment. Those who've attained Self-Realisation are celebrated as Realised Beings & Masters in this ancient culture.

Such realised beings & Masters know that ShivA or the omnipresent divine or Parabrahmam isn't in the deities worshipped in temples but resides as a living reality within each and every piece of creation, experientially. The saying “GuruvEy Shivam,” i.e. Guru is ShivA, also emphasises the revered state of the enlightened beings.

Since they're aware that the blissful experience of self-realisation is a possibility for every human being, they offer the methods and techniques to others. So, without getting the Grace of such a Realised Master and without following / practicing the methods offered by such a Guru, God or Divine will remain an invisible idea or concept.

However many holy places or places of worship they go to worship the divine, however many sermons and discourses they listen to about the divine, without the guidance of a Guru, it's not possible for them to realise the divinity within oneself and remain immersed in the state of eternal bliss.

Note: All religious heads are not necessarily realised beings or Masters. That's why, Spirituality is beyond the confines of religion. That's also why, anyone belonging to any religion can follow the methods offered by any Guru, i.e. Self-realised / Enlightened Master.

ஔவைக் குறள் 203 ~ குருவும் சிவமும்!

குருவின் அடிபணிந்து கூடுவது அல்லார்க்கு
அருவமாய் நிற்கும் சிவம்.

ஒரு குருநாதனைச் சரணடைந்து, அவருடன் எந்தவகையிலாவது தொடர்பு இல்லாமல் இருப்பவர்களுக்கு, சிவம் என்கிற பரப்பிரம்மம் அனுபவபூர்வமாகத் தெரியாது.

முக்தியே வாழ்வின் குறிக்கோள் என்பதை வலியுறுத்தும் சனாதன தர்மம் என்கிற பாரத கலாசாரத்தில், முக்தி அடைய வழிகாட்டும் குருமார்களுக்கு மிகுந்த முக்கியத்துவம் எப்போதுமே அளிக்கப்பட்டுள்ளது. தொன்மையான நமது கலாசாரத்தின் அடிப்படையையே அறியாமல் பலர் வெற்றிமீது வெறிகொண்டு அலையும் இக்காலத்திலும், அதில் எந்த மாற்றமும் இல்லை.

குருவுக்கு மகத்தான முக்கியத்துவம் அளிக்கப்படும் காரணம், முக்தி அடையும் வழிமுறைகளை மற்றும் செயல்முறைகளை, அவர்கள் தங்களது உள் அனுபவம் மூலமாக அறிந்திருப்பதுதான். அப்படி மெய்ஞானம் உணர்தல் என்ற நேரடி அனுபவம் பெற்றவர்களை, ஞானோதயம் அடைந்தோர் என்று கொண்டாடுகின்ற கலாசாரம் இது. அவர்களுக்கு, சிவம் அல்லது இறைத்தன்மை அல்லது எங்கும் நிறைந்த பரப்பிரம்மம் என்பது, கோவில்களில் வழிபடப்படும் இறை உருவங்களைத் தாண்டிய, எங்கும் பரவி நிறைந்த, எல்லா உயிர்களிலும் - மனிதர்கள் உட்பட - உள்ளே உறையும் உயிர் என்பது, நேரடியான உள் அனுபவம் மூலம் தெரியும். “குருவே சிவம்” என்பதும், ஞானோதயம் அடைந்தோரின் உயர்ந்த நிலையை உணர்த்துகின்றது.

அத்தகைய அற்புத அனுபவமாகிய தன்னிலை உணர்தல், எல்லாருக்குமே சாத்தியம் என்று உணர்ந்ததால், அதற்கான வழிமுறைகள் மற்றும் செயல்முறைகளை அவர்கள் பிறருக்கு வழங்குகின்றனர்.

அத்தகைய மெய்ஞானத்திற்கான வழிகாட்டியாக விளங்கும் ஏதாவது ஒரு குருவைப் பணிந்து, அவரது வழிகாட்டுதலின்படி முயற்சி செய்யாதவர்களுக்கு, இறைவன் என்பது அருவமான ஒன்றாகவே இருக்கும். அவர்கள் உருவமற்ற இறைவனைத் தேடிப் பல திருத்தலங்களுக்குச் சென்றாலும், இறைவனைப் பற்றிய பற்பல பிரசங்கங்களைக் கேட்டாலும், குருவின் வழிகாட்டுதல் இல்லாமல், அவர்களுக்குத் தன்னுள்ளே இறைத்தன்மையை உணரந்து, பேரானந்தத்தில் திளைக்க வாய்ப்பில்லை.

குறிப்பு: மதகுருமார்கள் அனைவரும் ஞானோதயம் அடைந்த குரு அல்ல. அதனால்தான், ஆன்மீகம் என்பது, மதம் அல்லது சமயத்தைச் சாரந்ததில்லை. எந்த மதத்தைச் சார்ந்தோரும், எந்த ஞானோதயம் அடைந்த குருவின் வழியையும் பின்பற்றலாம்.

வாக்கும் கருத்தும் மயங்கும் சமயங்கள்

ஆக்கிய நூலினும் இல்.

சிறந்த சமயச் சொற்பொழிவுகள், அவற்றில் பகிர்ந்து கொள்ளப்படும் சிந்தனைத் துளிகள் அல்லது கருத்துக்கள், தீவிரமான ஆர்வத்துடன் ஒருவர் சார்ந்திருக்கும் சமயத்தில் உள்ள புனிதமான நூல்கள் ஆகியவை முக்தியை அளிக்காது.

பெரும்பாலான மனிதர்கள் ஏதேனும் ஒரு சமயத்தைத் (மதம்) தங்கள் பிறப்பிலிருந்து சாரந்திருக்கிறார்கள். சிலர் இடையில் வேறொரு சமயத்துக்கு மாறவும் கூடும். எல்லாச் சமயங்களிலும் பல புனித நூல்கள் உள்ளன. அவற்றில் நன்கு தேர்ச்சி பெற்ற அந்த சமயத்தில் உள்ள பெரியோர், அவற்றிலுள்ள மெய்ஞானம் அடைவது, ஒழுக்கத்துடன் வாழ்வது, இறையுணர்வு போன்றவற்றை விளக்கிக் கூறுவதுடன், அவற்றைப் பற்றிய தங்களது சிந்தனை மற்றும் அனுபவம் சார்ந்த கருத்துக்களையும் எடுத்துரைப்பார்கள். ஆனால், அவை எவ்வளவு சிறப்பாக இருந்தாலும், அந்த நூல்களோ, அவை பற்றிய கருத்துக்களோ, முக்தியை அளிக்க இயலாது.

தன்னை அறிதல் அல்லது மெய்ஞானம் உணர்தல்  ஒவ்வொரு மனிதருக்குள்ளும் நடைபெற வாய்ப்புள்ள ஒரு தனிப்பட்ட உள் அனுபவம் என்பதால், புனித நூல்களும், அவை பற்றிய விளக்கங்களும், அந்த அனுபவத்துக்கான வழிமுறைகளை வேண்டுமானால் வழங்கலாம், ஆனால் உண்மையான அனுபவத்தை - ஒருவரது உள்ளே உணரும் பேரானந்த நிலையை - அவற்றால் வழங்க முடியாது. இதனால், ஆன்மீகம் என்பது, மதத்தைக் கடந்த ஒரு தேடல் அனுபவம் என்பதைத் தெளிவாக அறியலாம்.
