Even if it's washed with white coloured milk and then dried for many days, the dark coloured charcoal won't become white. Similarly, those who have neither learned the right things nor performed any worthy good deeds in life, won't heed to any kind of learned / valuable advice, even if it's offered to them by making a hole in their ears, i.e. forcibly.

The USA is considered the world's strongest superpower. It's President, Donald Trump, says something controversial pretty much everyday and has become the most notoriously popular clown. No one can control him until now. Even though everyone mocks his meaningless ramblings, since the presidency is so powerful, the world leaders and people remain frightened that he'll eventually do something so stupid that it will result in global destruction. NhAladiyAr verse 258 explains eloquently why such morons cannot be changed.

However many days it's washed with white milk and dried, the dark coloured charcoal won't turn white. People like Trump, who don't have inspiring ideals or elevating thoughts are like that charcoal. He is simply not the right person for such a powerful position. Even though those closer to him, such as Major Kelly, try hard, at times even forcibly (like when he forced the ridiculous Communications Director and dangerous Chief Strategist out) to seed good thoughts or trigger useful ideas, since he has neither learned the right things nor performed righteous deeds in life and continues to surround himself with only a coterie of yes-ministers instead of wiser ones, the speech and actions of those like Trump simply won't change. Because, Change has to happen from within oneself and there is no opportunity for that in this hopeless case. So, the only way out is for the people, who elected him as President, and those in the Government, to realise that they have committed a grave mistake by electing someone utterly unsuitable like him for a higher office they simply don't deserve to occupy (and obviously not qualified for) and either impeach him or force his ouster by legal means. That's when the world can remain in peace.

பல நாள் வெண்மையான பாலினால் கழுவி உலர்த்தி வைத்தாலும், இயற்கையில் கருநிறமுடைய கரிக்கு வெண்மையுடையதாகின்ற தன்மை இருந்ததில்லை. அதுபோல, கல்வியறிவு பெறுதற்கேற்ற அறத்தைச் செய்யாத ஒருவனுக்கு, கோலினால் அவன் காதில் கடாவித் துளை செய்து, அறிவை விளக்கும் பொருள்களைச் சொல்லினும் அவை புகமாட்டா.

உலகின் மிகப்பெரிய வல்லசராகக் கருதப்படும் அமெரிக்காவின் ராஷ்டிரபதியான டொனால்ட் டிரம்ப் தினமும் ஏதாவது சர்ச்சைக்கிடமான கருத்துகளைத் தெரிவித்து, தற்போது உலகின் முதன்மையான நகைச்சுவை நாயகனாகத் திகழ்கிறார். இதுவரை அவரை யாராலும் அடக்க முடியவில்லை. அவரது அர்த்தமற்ற பேச்சை  நையாண்டி செய்தலும், அவரது பதவிக்கும் மிகப்பெரிய சக்தி இருப்பதால், உலக அழிவு ஏற்படும் வகையில் ஏதேனும் அறிவற்ற செயலைப் புரிந்துவிடுவாரோ என்று உலகத் தலைவர்களும், மக்களும் எப்போதும் அச்சத்தோடு வாழவேண்டிய நிலை ஏற்பட்டுள்ளது. இவரைப் போன்ற மூடர்களை என் மாற்ற முடியாது என்பதை, நாலடியார் பாடல் 258 தெளிவாக விளக்குகின்றது.

எத்தனை நாட்கள் நிலக்கரியைப் பாலால் கழுவி உலர்த்தினாலும், அதன் கருமை போய் அது வெண்மையாக வாய்ப்பில்லை. உள்ளத்தில் தூய்மையான நல்ல எண்ணங்களோ, உயர்ந்த சிந்தனைகளோ இல்லாத  டிரம்ப் போன்றவர்கள் அக்கரியை ஒத்தவர்கள். மேஜர் கெல்லி போன்ற அவரது அருகாமையிலிருப்பவர்கள், கடுமையான முறைகளைப் பயன்படுத்தியேனும், நல்ல எண்ணங்களை விதைக்கவோ, சிறந்த சிந்தனையைத் தூண்டவோ முயன்றாலும், இயல்பாக உயர்கல்வி கற்காத, நற்செயல்கள் புரிந்து பழக்கமில்லாத, நல்ல எண்ணங்களுடையவரோடு சேராமல், எப்போதும் தன்னைப் புகழும் ஆமாம் சாமிகளுடனே இருந்து பழகிவிட்ட டிரம்ப் போன்றோருடைய பேச்சு மற்றும் செயல்கள்,  என்னதான் முயன்றாலும் இனி மாற வாய்ப்பில்லை. ஏனெனில், மாற்றம் என்பது எப்போதும் ஒருவரது உள்ளிருந்து ஏற்படவேண்டும். ஆகையால், தவறான ஒருவரை இத்தகைய உயர்ந்த பதவிக்குத் தேர்ந்தெடுத்த தங்களது தவறை உணர்ந்து, மக்களும், அரசாங்கமும் சேர்ந்து அவரைப் பதவிநீக்கம் செய்வது ஒன்றே, உலகம் அமைதியாக வாழ வழிவகுக்கும்.

Even if one isn't very wealthy, just like the time when one had enough wealth, if one is joyful (or at least pleased) at seeing needy people and offer whatever little help one can, such benevolence will get them a Tatkal ticket for entry into heaven, i.e. heaven's doors will remain open for them.

Our wealth may not grow all the time. Even those who have earned a lot of wealth through dubious means, may be forced to lose most of it through an executive action like Demonetization. Those who've worked hard and earned wealth legally and invested it in the stock market, may still lose it, if and when the markets go through a bearish phase. Those who've invested in real estate like house or land may lose it due to natural calamities like flood, earthquake or drought. Buildings constructed violating construction norms, flouting procedures, may just be charred in a fire. Long story short, earned / accumulated wealth is impermanent.

But those who need either financial assistance or other forms of help will always be there. When they come to us seeking help, even if our present situation isn't as great as it used to be, we should offer some help, as much as we can. Those who are kind enough to give to others who are in need like that, without citing their current status as an excuse, a seat in heaven will be allotted on priority like Tatkal reservation, i.e, the doors of heaven will remain open specially for them.

P.S.1 Being a spiritual seeker, Swamy doesn't believe in separate external worlds such as heaven and hell. But, since most humans, follow their religious beliefs sincerely, Swamy used the Tatkal booking model in a light-hearted way, merely to highlight the magnificence of benevolence (helping the needy).

இல்லா இடத்தும் இயைந்த அளவினால் 

உள்ள இடம்போல் பெரிதுவந்து - மெல்லக் 

கொடையொடு பட்ட குணனுடை மாந்தர்க்கு 

அடையாளம் ஆண்டைக் கதவு.

தன்னிடம் மிகுந்த அளவில் செல்வம் இல்லாவிட்டாலும், போதுமான அளவு செல்வம் இருந்த காலத்தைப் போல, உதவி வேண்டி வருபவர்களின் வருகையால் மகிழ்ந்து, சிறிய அளவிலாவது பிறருக்குக் கொடுத்துதவும் நற்பண்பை உடைய மனிதர்களுக்கு, ஸ்வர்க உலகத்தின் கதவுகள் ஒருபோதும் மூடப்படாது.

நமது செல்வமானது எப்போதும் பெருகிக்கொண்டே இருக்கும் என்று சொல்ல இயலாது. தவறான வழியில் மிகுந்த அளவில் பொருள் சேர்த்தவர்கள்கூட, Demonetization போன்ற எதிர்பாராத நிகழ்வுகளால், சேர்த்த பொருளை இழக்க நேரிடலாம். நேர்மையாகப் பொருளீட்டி, அதைப் பங்குச் சந்தையில் முதலீடு செய்தவர்களின் செல்வமும் கூட, பங்குச் சந்தையில் சரிவு ஏற்பட்டால், மதிப்பில் குறைய வாய்ப்பிருக்கிறது. செல்வாக்கான பதவியில் நீண்டகாலமாக இருப்பவர்கள் கூட, திடீரென்று வேலையைவிட்டு நீக்கப்படலாம். பெருமழையால் வந்த வெள்ளம், நிலநடுக்கம், கடும் வறட்சி போன்ற இயற்கைச் சீற்றத்தால், வீடு, நிலம் போன்றவற்றில் சேர்த்துவைத்த பொருளை இழக்க நேரிடலாம். முறையற்ற கட்டுமானக் குறைபாடுகளால், நெருப்புப் பிடித்து எரிந்தும் கட்டிடங்கள் அழியலாம். எனவே, சேர்த்த செல்வம் என்பது நிலையற்றது.

ஆனால், பொருளுதவியோ அல்லது வேறு ஏதோ ஒரு வகையான உதவியோ தேவைப்படுபவர்கள் எங்கும், எப்போதும் உள்ளனர். அவர்கள் நம்மிடம் வந்து உதவி கேட்கும்பொழுது, நமது தற்போதய நிலை முன்புபோலச் சிறப்பாக இல்லாவிட்டாலும், நம்மால் இயன்ற அளவு, ஏதாவது உதவியை நாம் செய்யவேண்டும். அவ்வாறு, தனது நிலையாக காரணம் கூறாது, சிறிய அளவிலாவது, தன்னலமற்றுப் பிறருக்கு உதவி புரிபவர்களுக்கு, ஸ்வர்கம் / சொர்க்கம் எனப்படும் மரணத்திற்குப் பிந்தைய மேலுலகில், தத்கால் முறையில் இடம் அளிக்கப்படும். அதாவது, சொர்கத்தின் கதவுகள் அவர்களுக்குத் தனிப்பட்ட முறையில் திறந்து விடப்படும்.

NhAladiyAr 400 ~ 135 - What to Learn!

NhAladiyAr ~ 400 verses.. 4 stanzas each..

Thirukkural (1330 verses.. 2 stanzas each) is so well-known that it overshadowed pretty much all the other tomes of equal value. One such, belonging to the same category of ancient Tamil literature of PadhineN KEezhkkaNakku (anthology or logical group of 18 books) group of tomes (பதினெண் கீழ்க்கணக்கு நூல்கள்) is NhAladiyAr (நாலடியார்).

A collection of 400 verses (by various anonymous Poets - considered to be Jain saints), of just 4 stanzas each, it's known for its enchanting use of similes to convey a pertinent point. The 400 verses are grouped under 3 headings (similar to Thirukkural) & 40 subheadings, comprising of 10 verses each.

Long term Swamy readers may recall the “2000 Years Old Tweets” or #2KYOT in digital-natives-lingo Nano blog series in https://swamyverse.blogspot.com, which is on pause for the time being.
Who knows, it may suddenly spring back to life, when some madman like a 3-term CM, who did absolutely nothing to solve a chronic pain that his state still suffers from, during his (& his son's) term, goats about a farcical win in the parliamentary by-election, in which 93% voters Did Not vote & he still got elected with a mere 3% of total votes, and will shamelessly enjoy the free perks of being a member of the Parliament (ah.. the bitter sweetness of the world's largest democracy)!

On the occasion of yet another nondescript day tomorrow (don't even think about it…), Swamy is launching the random Nano blog series that's aimed at bringing such classical treasures to the notice of the intensely competitive insanely fast world that we inhabit today, offering (hopefully.. sincerely) a semblance of sanity, with the ancient lights that can still shine their wisdom light, to shoo away the ignorance darkness that surrounds us like an AR (or is it still VR!) goggle (or ‘IT’, if you're a - strictly Hollywood only - movie fan like Swamy)!

The number of things to be known / learned is innumerable. But the lifetime (to learn them all) is limited / short.

If one ponders / contemplates quietly, even in the limited lifetime, there are many illnesses / diseases that one could be afflicted with (which reduces the available lifetime further).

So, just as a swan would isolate & consume only the milk from a mixture of milk & water, the smart / wise learners (seekers) will choose & learn only those tomes (scriptures) that will aid their quest for a better / more purposeful Life (attain self-realisation / liberation / mukthi).

கற்கக்கூடிய (அ) அறியக்கூடிய விஷயங்கள் கணக்கற்றவை. ஆனால், கற்பவருடைய வாழ்நாள் குறைவானது (அத்தனையும் கற்கப் போதுமானது அல்ல).

சற்றே நிதானமாகச் சிந்தித்தால், அந்தக் குறுகிய வாழும் காலத்தில்கூட, பலவிதமான பிணிகள் (நோய்கள்) வரக்கூடும் (அதனால் வாழ்நாள் இன்னமும் குறுகக்கூடும்).

ஆகையால், இருக்கக்கூடிய எல்லா நூல்களையும் கற்க முயற்சி செய்யாமல், இந்த (குறுகிய) வாழ்நாளுக்குள் தாம் மேன்மையடைய (பெருவீடு பெற / ஞானோதயம் அடைய) எத்தகைய நூல்கள் பயன்படும் என்று தெளிவாக ஆராய்ந்து, நீரிலிருந்து பாலைமட்டும் பிரித்து அருந்தும் அன்னப்பறவை போல, அத்தகைய நூல்களை மட்டுமே அறிவுடையவர்கள் கற்பார்கள்.

Hmmm... It's hard for a book lover (Swamy inclusive) to digest the Truth of verse 135 that's as transparent as glacial meltwater (howzatt for a simile, eh). But since it's undisputed Truth, which remains relevant after millennia, at least Think about it, the next time you pay for a bunch of books, irrespective of whether it's at a beloved (but now defunct) bookstore like Landmark or the ubiquitous Amazon!
